Frequently Asked Questions
How does ranked choice voting work?
Instead of picking just one candidate, you rank them in order of preference (1st choice, 2nd choice, etc.). If no candidate gets a majority of first-choice votes, the candidate with the fewest votes is eliminated and their votes transfer to voters' next choices—repeating until someone wins a majority.

Where will the voting email come from?
The voting link will be emailed from
[email protected] on the evening of April 1. Make sure to check your spam folder if you don't see it in your inbox.
Are votes anonymous?
Yes. All votes are completely anonymous. We use OpaVote, a secure voting platform that ensures your individual choices remain private.
Do I have to vote in every race?
No. You can choose which races you want to vote in based on your knowledge and preferences.
Do I have to rank all candidates in multi-candidate races?
No. You can rank as many or as few candidates as you like. Some members rank only their top choice, while others rank multiple candidates.
Do I need to live in a specific district to vote in LV4ALL's endorsement process?
No. LV4ALL members can vote in our endorsement process for all Lehigh Valley races, regardless of which district or precinct you live in. Our endorsements are organization-wide, not limited by geographic boundaries.
When does voting close?
Voting opens on the evening of April 1 after the General Meeting and closes at midnight on Saturday, April 5, 2026.
What if I can't attend the April 1 meeting in person?
You can still vote! The OpaVote link will be sent to all members in good standing on the evening of April 1, regardless of whether you attended the meeting. However, attending the meeting is valuable for hearing the interviews and participating in member discussion.
Why aren't candidate interviews shared online?
Interviews are recorded but not distributed digitally. This approach allows us to ask tough but fair questions and have honest conversations with our membership without concerns about soundbites or viral clips. We believe this leads to more substantive interviews and better-informed voting.
Can I still pay cash at the meeting or must I pay by March 30?
You can pay cash at the April 1 meeting. The March 30 deadline is only for credit card payments, which require 2 days to process. Cash payments are accepted right up until the meeting starts.
What happens if there are 5+ candidates in a single race?
Our executive committee may decide to endorse up to 2 candidates in races with 5 or more candidates. This decision is made on a race-by-race basis to balance giving voters meaningful guidance while acknowledging that multiple strong candidates may emerge in crowded fields.
When will endorsement results be announced?
Endorsements will be announced on Sunday, April 6, 2026—the day after voting closes. This gives us time to verify results and prepare announcements.
Which races will LV4ALL be voting on?
We endorse in competitive Democratic primaries in the Lehigh Valley. For 2026, this includes PA-7 Congressional District, PA House District 22, PA Senate District 16, and PA House District 187. You can see all candidates who have applied by trying the
test ballot.
What happens after we endorse a candidate?
Endorsed candidates receive promotion on our website and social media channels, volunteer canvassing support from our members, and amplification through our member network. We also provide voter guides and information to help educate voters about endorsed candidates.
How do I know if my membership is current?
Email
[email protected] and we can verify your membership status. If you've paid dues within the last year, you're in good standing.
